Positive psychology

Scientifically proven and evidence-based study of the human flourishing and positive functioning.

Positive psychology is founded by Martin E.P. Seligman, PhD in 1998, whom described the movement as “The study of what constitutes the pleasant life, the engaged life, and the meaningful life.” It is the branch of psychology that uses scientific understanding and effective intervention to aid in the achievement of a satisfactory life, rather than merely treating mental illness.

The study focuses on robust, scientific evidence and investigates factors that may enhance and also hinder human flourishing and psychological well-being. It studies what makes life most worth living, aim to elevate your psychological wellness, happiness, achieve a more fulfilling and successful life. It has also been seen as the study of the strengths and virtues that enable individuals, groups, and organisations to thrive.

Sailboat Metaphor

Humans are complex beings. This metaphor compares human functioning to a sailboat. It was designed to increase understanding of the many different aspects of ourselves and our surroundings that affect how we feel and act on a daily basis. Sailboats symbolize journey and adventure and the metaphor offers a simple and multi-faceted perspective on the self, taking into account the many factors, both positive and negative, that influence well-being.
